Everyone needs a few no-bake recipes in their repertoire and these Canadian Eatmore Bars should be on that list. Perfect to put in your pocket on a ski day or to take in a bag and share with other participants at a sports event. In my photo I cut them into small diamonds, put them on a pretty plate and voila…they become a perfectly acceptable sweet treat served any time.
In case you haven’t purchased candy in the last 20 years or so Eat-More is a brand name chocolate bar in Canada. They are not included in the usual assortment of Halloween chocolate bars so I hadn’t thought of them for a long time. Then someone brought this homemade version of them to a squash tournament I played in. Everyone loved these Eatmore Bars and she raved about how easy they were to make. The rest of the day I saw her writing out the recipe on little pieces of paper for anyone who asked.
Now Wendy’s homemade Eatmore Bars are standard fare at the annual squash tournament.
Kids in the Kitchen
I like Jamie Oliver’s idea of a Food Revolution. He promotes food education and that starts in your own kitchen. Let young children measure chocolate chips and watch the magic as you combine and stir creating something they can eat. As they get older they have fun cracking eggs, measuring flour and turning on an electric mixer. Cooking really is magic.
Teach kids to have fun in the kitchen by having fun with them and enjoying the reward for their efforts together. These no-bake Eatmore Bars, and these Uncooked Dainties, are great starter recipes to help build confidence in the kitchen.
Eatmore Bars by Ingredient
PEANUT BUTTER – I have not yet tried this recipe with almond, soy or pea butter but I think it would work.
CREAMED HONEY – This is a different consistency than pourable honey. Be sure to buy the right kind.
PEANUTS – Roasted peanuts often list wheat as an ingredient so I use regular salted peanuts. Try different nuts, gluten free Rice Krispies or puffed quinoa. You could also substitute chopped dried fruit for more of a chewy bar without the crunch.

|1 cup creamed honey|
|1 cup peanut butter|
|2 cups chocolate chips|
|2 cups chopped GF salted, roasted peanuts|
- Line a large jelly roll pan or cookie sheet (mine was 11” x 17”) with parchment paper. Set aside.
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat combine the creamed honey, peanut butter and chocolate chips. Stir until smooth just bringing to a boil. Remove from heat.
- Fold in peanuts and pour onto the prepared cookie sheet spreading the mixture right to the edges. Refrigerate until firm. Cut into bars, squares or long strips.
- These freeze well. Individually wrap some for lunches or on-the-go snacks.
