Baked Apples with Caramel Sauce
Stuffed Baked Apples are a naturally gluten free dessert that's cozy and welcome all fall and winter. As they bake they'll fill the house with the wonderful aroma of cinnamon and apple. Ice cream, caramel sauce or both is always an added bonus.

Ingredients

, choose from Honeycrisp, Braeburn, Arlet, Rome or Empire
FILLING

brown sugar

chopped pecans

cinnamon

butter
BAKING

boiling water
SERVING – caramel sauce and ice cream or whipped cream

Instructions
Preheat oven to 375°F.
Slice the top off of each apple and set aside.
Using an apple corer or grapefruit knife carefully remove the core leaving the bottom of the apple intact.
FILLING
Combine brown sugar, pecans and cinnamon in a small bowl.
Spoon filling into apples and top each one with 1 teaspoon of butter.
Sprinkle any remaining filling over the apples.
Put apple tops back on.
Pour boiling water into the bottom of the dish.
Bake in preheated oven for 30-45 minutes depending on the variety of apple.
SERVING
Serve with caramel sauce and ice cream or whipped cream.
