Gluten free Hot and Spicy Mixed Nuts are delicious on their own, addictive with a glass of wine and an upscale addition to any charcuterie board. Sure, you can buy seasoned nuts gluten free, but when your focus is improving your health the motto is; the less you're reading the better you're eating.
Three edible gifts that have stood the test of time for me are; these nuts, my Easy Caramel Sauce and White Chocolate Candy Cane Popcorn. They are all perfect for last minute teacher gifts so keep those ingredients on hand.

Ingredients
In Canada the brand Royal Nuts sells gluten free nuts, pumpkin seeds and more. I see them at every grocery store I go to and on Amazon.
- Butter - Use real butter instead of processed seed oils, you'll taste the difference.
- Gluten free Worcestershire Sauce - Back in the day when it was difficult to find GF worcester, I came up with this recipe. I haven't shopped for it since.
- Celery salt, garlic powder & cumin - This is what makes them SPICY.
- Cayenne powder - This is what makes them HOT.
- Mixed nuts - These are my favourite for gift giving. Buy the good ones!
See recipe card for exact amounts.
Instructions: Gluten Free Worcestershire Sauce
I can make gluten free Worcestershire sauce in less time than it takes to run to the store. So that's exactly what I do.
Substitutions & Variations
Mixed Nuts: Substitute any single nut or make your own combination of nuts for the standard mixed nuts you can buy.
Alenes' Sweet, Hot & Spicy Mixed Nuts: Alene, a follower, reported back to me that she added 2 tablespoons of maple syrup to this recipe and loved her sweet variation. I know some of you are going to love it too.
Storage
These nuts will last in an airtight container for several weeks and make a welcome hostess gift any time of year.
Party Like A Celiac
K.I.S.S. is a well known acronym I reworded to stand for Keep It Simple and Safe. Many celiacs find it less stressful to eat before they go to a party. With a little planning charcuterie for one could include these nuts with meats and cheeses you can put together easily.
It takes discipline but eating something that is a bit special will have you arriving at the party satisfied. Then you can focus on the conversation and avoid looking at the things you could have had (if they weren't in contact with all the other things you can't have).
Get The Tools
You need nothing more than a baking sheet and some parchment to bake these Hot and Spicy Mixed Nuts. I have two sets of two pans, one for all things savoury and a second set for dessert only (no garlic, ever).
- Here's a full size baking sheet, a work horse in the kitchen.
- Parchment paper roll is always in my drawer but the rolling up annoys some cooks.
- Parchment paper sheets, if you have a spot to store them, come out of the drawer perfectly flat and some celiacs also you them as a good size clean surface.
Top Tip: Homemade
Homemade is a decision that does not need to be complicated. We all want and need convenience but just because you can buy something gluten free, you don't have to. Home cooks have fabulous collections of simple recipes. Learn to adjust them if you want to follow trends then make exactly what they want.

Alene
I like things sweet too. Where may I add some maple syrup?
Cinde Little
Oh that sounds yummy Alene! I would start by adding 1 Tbsp maple syrup right in with all the other ingredients. My mom has a sweet tooth so she would probably say start with 2 Tbsp. Let me know what you do and how they turn out.
Alene
Delighted! Not overly spiced. Just perfect with 2 tablespoons of maple syrup, it took care of my sweet needs! A great combination of flavors. Thank you!
Cinde Little
Perfect! I'm adding that as an optional ingredient to the recipe because some days I would love that too. Thanks for getting back to me with that tip Alene!
